This small room (technically a bedroom, since it has a closet) shares a bathroom with Emma’s room and this whole area of the house will eventually become a new master suite.  But until then, especially since Andrew took a new job that is fully remote, we needed a home office and this room was the perfect spot for it!  I knew I wanted to paint it brown, to give off a rich, cozy vibe, and then Ballard Designs, a go-to source for us in our work, asked if I wanted to help show off their new Hutton office collection– and as soon as I saw the rattan woven panels I was ALL IN! It’s the perfect setting for a home office because it’s so customizable in scale and size. You can utilize different components to make desks, filing cabinets, storage pieces, etc.  We took some shots of the room to share and all the sources for each item are at the end of the post!

Beyond the brown walls (Benjamin Moore Fairview Taupe) I knew I wanted to use this floral Paolo Moschino from Kravet fabric as the palette- brown, blues, and creams. So I had a custom pillow made in it and matched a solid velvet from Ballard for the desk chair.  I do have window treatments coming, they just were delayed (because I couldn’t make up my mind, mostly).

Andrew questioned the chaise in this space, but now I catch him on his Zoom calls on it ALL. THE . TIME. It is SOOOOOO comfortable. I want time to sneak away in here and look at magazines or read a book! The intaglios look SO good against the deep brown wall too.

Above the desk I put a large linen pinboard and flanking that some acrylic floating shelves for some of my blue and white pottery.

We did a filing cabinet only base with a hutch above to conceal our printer and supplies. It’s SUCH a great piece to keep messes out fo sight (and therefore, out of mind)

The texture of the panels makes it feel less “office-y” and more like a home.

Thank you Ballard for the amazing opportunity to work with these great items- shop them all below!
